OCRC
has run an orphanage in a rented house at Koteshwar,
Kathmandu since 2003. Started with 6 children,
there are now 41 orphans living in the home and
they are from different parts of the country.
The orphaned children living in the home are of
the age from 3 months to 10 years.
The home has been run to date
from small contributions from many individuals.
Individuals from Kathmandu and abroad have contributed
to pay the house rent. The children are fed with
the rice collected from 'Mutthidan Karyakram'.
Out of 41 children in the home,
28 children above the age of 4 years have been
enrolled in the local private school and they
are getting education. Their education is sponsored
by the local individuals. OCRC welcomes support
from the individuals and the institutions for
sponsoring education of these orphans.
The children in the home are
also provided health services including time to
time health check ups and treatment in case of
illness. All of them are immunized and taken to
the vitamin 'A' camps every time on the national
days. The children are also involved with all
possible in-door and out-door games with the purpose
of their healthier growth and development. They
are also taken to different places such as zoo,
picnic, etc.
